Mamas' In The Kitchen Reviews
The review of this place are accurate in that the portions are humungous! Next time we go we might share one meal...that’s how big the portions are. We had the cheese burger w/onion rings and clubhouse w/ham &pea soup. Highly recommend both. The burgs are handmade and the buns super fresh! Onion rings were cooked perfect; nice and crispy and not thick. The clubhouse had fresh turkey not deli, with a thick puce of ham plus bacon...so good!! The ham & pea soup was pretty tasty although the base was a bit weird; it was good though. Service was also great!!
Great old fashioned diner with really good home cooked food. Great spot to have a light lunch on a day trip or stop in for supper. We stop here each time we come to Alberta Beach.
We have been coming here on a regular basis for a long time. The 45 min drive is well worth the best food large portions and the best ever staff. Always leave mamas stuffed. Happy and can't wait for the next time. Particularly fond of server Jenn. She is a sweetheart
Absolutely amazing fish and chips. Great friendly staff and a very busy spot, worth the wait for a table.
Oh my goodness. The portion sizes are out of this world! The fish was perfectly cooked and tender all the way through. Jenn was an absolute gem, full of energy and laughs. Beware, y'all will leave here full. I had to take my fish home. If I could give more stars I would.
The food and service at this restaurant are consistently exceptional. The portions are generously sized, and I recommend halving orders or sharing for smaller appetites. Notably, they offer the largest pancake I have ever encountered. The menu boasts a diverse selection, including breakfast options throughout the day, gluten-free and pork-free choices. One of the significant advantages of residing in Alberta Beach is the presence of this iconic restaurant. They actively contribute to the community and operate as a family-owned business. Previously, I would typically award it a five-star rating. However, I was compelled to refrain from dining there on my birthday due to the excessive heat within the restaurant. Additionally, their pricing has become less competitive compared to its previous offerings. Nevertheless, the substantial portion sizes compensate for these minor shortcomings, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a substantial meal.
This place is hands down delicious!! First timers, Heard how amazing it was and sure it lived up to our expectations! Everything we try was amazing. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was cute.. Highly recommend, and will definitely be returning! Thanks, Spalogy girls
TLDR: well executed standard North American breakfast at a reasonable price with excellent service in a dated building. Looking for a Sunday breakfast West of Edmonton, we returned to Mamas' in The Kitchen in Alberta Beach. We had been here once before (for lunch). As it was the last time we ate there, it was relatively busy, we happened to time it right and got our choice of table. People clearly enjoye ating here, there were some obvious regulars and a multigenerational families. The flooring in here is old, the furniture functional and clean but not new, and the decor is that awful "everything we can fit on the walls that is tangentially related to the feeling we want to convey at the moment we found a deal" diner clutter. That said, the service was prompt, attentive and friendly. I asked for hot sauce and was given a list of choices and it was brought right away. The food here is good. We had French toast and the Banger breakfast, she with whipped cream and previously frozen berries, mine with beef sausage and eggs. The options for hashbrowns were cubed as you see or shredded, there were 4 or 5 toast options, I had sourdough. It was excellent quality bread, properly toasted, not too light, not too dark. Toast accoutrements (jam, pb) are not on the table, they bring them on demand. The hash browns are simple, not seasoned, not mushy, not made from frozen. The coffee was a little weaker than I like, but within the range of what some people prefer. The washroom I visited was clean and modern. Good experience, will repeat, only marking it down due to the flooring and decor. Next time I might try the pie.
